Boreal Technique at the Heart of Festival Caribü: An Unforgettable Winter Audiovisual Performance

In the winter of 2018, the Université de Sherbrooke’s Longueuil campus was transformed into a true open-air street party to host the winter edition of Festival Caribü. This large-scale event, a genuine tribute to cocktails and street food, drew tens of thousands of festivalgoers who braved the cold to enjoy a unique sensory experience. Behind the electrifying atmosphere and vibrant visual universe was the high-level technical expertise of Boréal Technique, the team in charge of the event’s entire audiovisual component.

For four days, Boréal Technique managed the site’s complete audiovisual installation, turning a simple campus into an immersive space worthy of the most ambitious winter productions. From stage setup to general technical logistics, every detail was carefully planned to create a space that was warm, vibrant, and fully functional, despite the harsh winter conditions.

An Iconic Stage by Boreal Technique

At the heart of the site stood the main stage — our Stageline SL100, a reference model for outdoor events. This mobile stage, combined with a structure of artistically arranged shipping containers, provided a stylized industrial decor that fit perfectly with the festival’s colorful winter theme. This solid yet flexible infrastructure made it possible to host an eclectic musical lineup, ranging from electro-pop to experimental hip-hop.

Renowned artists such as Valaire, Alaclair Ensemble, La Bronze, and Kroy took the stage one after the other, delivering electrifying performances in an exhilarating atmosphere. Thanks to perfectly calibrated sound, Boréal Technique enabled each artist to offer powerful, crystal-clear, and immersive audio — even outdoors and in freezing temperatures.

A Vivid and Immersive Lighting Experience

One of the highlights of the mandate entrusted to Boréal Technique was undoubtedly the lighting design. By playing with contrasts, vibrant colors, and dynamic effects, the technical team created a spectacular visual environment. High-performance LED projectors were used to light the stage and surrounding installations, helping define the festival’s unique visual identity. The result: a lively, almost magical space where every beam of light amplified both the energy of the performances and the enchantment of winter.
